§ 298b. Special Health Service Corps—Classification and remuneration system

The Director of the Central Personnel Administration Office of Puerto Rico shall establish, in coordination with the Secretary of Health, an exclusive classification and remuneration system for the members of the Corps, and shall provide a remunerative complementary salary improvement margin for them; Provided, That the annual salary shall not exceed forty thousand dollars ($40,000) in any case. Said classification and remuneration system shall be established by taking into consideration the following:

(A) The region where the doctor shall render his services.

(B) The medical branch in which the doctor is specialized.

(C) The doctor’s experience in terms of the years of professional practice.

(D) The doctor’s board examinations and continuous education courses.

(E) The evaluation of the committee appointed by the Secretary of Health for this purpose.

The Director is also empowered to approve fringe benefits for the doctors and dentists in said Corps which may be different from the fringe benefits of the public employees in general, but which shall not exceed six thousand dollars ($6,000) a year.
