§ 3141. Continuing education

(a) It is hereby required that all members of the Puerto Rico Police comply with the minimum requirement of twelve (12) hours each year of continuing education which shall include the following topics: ethics, management and control of force, personal defense skills that prevent or minimize injuries to the intervened persons, duties of police work, regulation and standards of the use of force, police corruption and misconduct, applicable penal laws, human rights, civil rights, and other topics, in order to improve the performance of the Puerto Rico Police.

(b) It is hereby established as public policy that the Criminal Justice University College shall become a police training campus and that a continuing education curriculum shall be developed for all members of the Force.

(c) The Superintendent of the Puerto Rico Police shall adopt the regulations needed for the faithful compliance of this act in a term of sixty (60) days as of its approval. Within his/her powers, the Superintendent may increase the number of continuing education credit hours required to members of the Police Corps.
