Rule XV - Clerks and Other Personnel

The clerk of this court and the other personnel employed or appointed by the court shall not engage in the practice of law except that they may act pro se and may perform routine legal work incident to the management of their personal affairs or the personal affairs of their immediate family (as defined in the Louisiana Code of Judicial Conduct), so long as the pro se or immediate family legal work does not present an appearance of impropriety, does not take place while on duty or in their workplace, and does not interfere with their primary responsibility to the office in which they serve, and further provided that:

(1) In the case of pro se legal work, such work is done without compensation (other than such compensation as may be allowed by statute or court rule); and

(2) In the case of immediate family legal work, such work is done without compensation (other than such compensation that may be allowed by statute or court rule) and does not involve the entry of an appearance in any state court in a contested matter.

The clerk of court and the other personnel employed or appointed by the court shall not engage in any business, calling, or employment which interferes with the proper discharge of their duties.
