Section 38.051 - Definition In this subchapter, "health benefit plan provider" means an insurance company, group hospital service corporation, or health maintenance organization that issues:
(1) an individual, group, blanket, or franchise insurance policy, an insurance agreement, a group hospital service contract, or an evidence of coverage, that provides benefits for medical or surgical expenses incurred as a result of an accident or sickness; or(2) a long-term care benefit plan, as defined by Section 1651.003.Amended By Acts 2007, 80th Leg., R.S., Ch. 730, Sec. 2B.006, eff. 4/1/2009.Added by Acts 1999, 76th Leg., ch. 101, Sec. 1, eff. 9/1/1999.
