Section 61.062 - Powers Respecting Junior Colleges(a) The board may authorize the creation of public junior college districts as provided in the applicable laws. In the exercise of this authority the board shall give particular attention to the need for a public junior college in the proposed district, and the ability of the district to provide adequate local financial support.(b) The board may dissolve any public junior college district which has failed to establish and maintain a junior college in the district within three years from the date of its authorization.(c) The board may adopt standards for the operation of public junior colleges and prescribe rules and regulations for them.(d) The board may require of each public junior college whatever reports it deems necessary in accordance with its rules and regulations.(e) The board may establish advisory commissions composed of representatives of public junior colleges and other citizens of the state to provide advice and counsel to the board with respect to public junior colleges.
