Section 791 - Petition to department for commutation of compensation; notice of commutation

If any party shall desire the commutation of future installments of compensation, he shall present a petition therefor to the department to be heard and determined by a workers' compensation judge: Provided, That where there are no more than fifty-two weeks of compensation to be commuted, the insurer or self-insurer may commute such future installments without discount upon furnishing the employe written notice of the commutation on a form prescribed by the department, a copy of which shall be filed immediately with the department. Nothing in this section shall prohibit, restrict or impair the right of the parties to enter into a compromise and release by stipulation in accord with section 449 . n
