It shall be lawful for the undertaker of any public bridge, to enter upon the lands and enclosures near to the place where such bridge is to be built, for the purpose of searching for and procuring the materials necessary for the building of such bridge, in like manner, and with like authority, as is hereinbefore provided in behalf of the supervisors of the public roads in the like case.
