Section 78.307 - "Investment company" and "open-end investment company" defined; redemption of shares by open-end investment company1. As used in this section, unless the context requires otherwise: (a) "Investment company" means any corporation, trust, association or fund which is engaged or proposes to engage in the business of investing, reinvesting, owning, holding or trading in securities, and whose assets are invested principally in cash or in securities of other issuers.(b) "Open-end investment company" means any investment company which issues one or more series or classes of securities under the terms of which the holder of the security, upon presentation thereof to the issuer, is entitled to receive approximately his or her proportionate share of the current net assets of the issuer applicable to such series or class, or the cash equivalent thereof.2.
