Section 486.281 - Head lamps: Placement; limit on correlated color temperature of high-intensity discharge lamps1. Every motorcycle or moped shall be equipped with at least one and not more than two head lamps.2. Every such head lamp on a motorcycle shall be located at a height of not more than 54 inches nor less than 24 inches from the ground as measured from the center of the lamp to the level ground upon which such motorcycle stands without a load.3. A motorcycle or moped may be equipped with one or two headlamps that are high-intensity discharge lamps if each such headlamp has a correlated color temperature of not less than 5,000 kelvins and not more than 6,000 kelvins.4. The provisions of subsection 3 do not apply to the extent preempted by federal law.5.
