Section 483.384 - Renewal of license: Test of eyesight; report in lieu of test; regulations; when examination may be required1. The Department may require an applicant for a renewal license to appear before an examiner for a driver's license and successfully pass an eye test.2. The Department may accept, in lieu of an eye test, a report from an ophthalmologist, optometrist, physician, advanced practice registered nurse or agency of another state which has duties comparable to those of the Department if the reported test was performed within 90 days before the application for renewal and: (a) The applicant is qualified to renew his or her driver's license by mail in accordance with the procedure established pursuant to NRS 483.383; or(b) The Department determines, upon good cause shown, that the applicant is unable to appear in person.3. The Department shall adopt regulations which prescribe: (a) The criteria to determine which applicant for a renewal license must appear and successfully pass an eye test.(b) The circumstances under which the Department will accept a report from an ophthalmologist, optometrist, physician, advanced practice registered nurse or agency of another state which is authorized to conduct eye tests, in lieu of an eye test for the renewal of an applicant's driver's license.4. If the Administrator or his or her authorized agent has reason to believe that the licensee is no longer qualified to receive a license because of the licensee's physical condition, the Department may require that the applicant submit to an examination pursuant to the provisions of NRS 483.330.
