Section 217.090 - Compensation officers: Appointment; duties; instruction1. The Director shall appoint one or more compensation officers.2. A compensation officer shall:(a) Conduct an investigation to determine the eligibility of the applicant for aid, including but not limited to:(1) Compiling bills and medical reports from physicians who have treated the victim for his or her injury;(2) Obtaining from the victim a signed affidavit indicating the amount of any wages allegedly lost because of the injury and verifying that information with the employer of the victim;(3) Obtaining and reviewing reports of peace officers and statements of witnesses; and(4) Determining the availability to the applicant of any insurance benefits or other source from which the applicant is eligible to be compensated on account of his or her injuries or the death of the victim.(b) After completing the investigation, make a determination of eligibility and render a written decision, including an order directing payment of compensation, if compensation is due.3.
