Section 388.1661d - Career and technical education incentive programs; payments to districts; definitions(1) From the appropriation in section 11, there is allocated for 2024-2025 an amount not to exceed $5,304,300.00 from the state school aid fund for additional payments to districts for career and technical education programs for the purpose of increasing the number of Michigan residents with high-quality degrees or credentials, and to increase the number of pupils who are college- and career-ready upon high school graduation.(2) The department shall calculate payments to districts under this section in the following manner:(a) A payment of $35.00 multiplied by the number of pupils in grades 9 to 12 who are counted in membership in the district and are enrolled in at least 1 career and technical education program.(b) An additional payment of $35.00 multiplied by the number of pupils in grades 9 to 12 who are counted in membership in the district and are enrolled in at least 1 career and technical education program that provides instruction in critical skills and high-demand career fields.(3) If the allocation under subsection (1) is insufficient to fully fund payments under subsection (2), the department shall prorate payments under this section on an equal per-pupil basis.(4) As used in this section:(a) "Career and technical education program" means a state-approved career and technical education program, as determined by the department.(b) "Career and technical education program that provides instruction in critical skills and high-demand career field" means a career and technical education program classified under any of the following 2-digit classification of instructional programs (CIP) codes: (i) 01, which refers to "agriculture, agriculture operations, and related sciences".(ii) 03, which refers to "natural resources and conservation".(iii) 10 through 11, which refers to "communications technologies/technicians and support services" and "computer and information sciences and support services".(iv) 14 through 15, which refers to "engineering" and "engineering technologies and engineering-related fields".(v) 26, which refers to "biological and biomedical sciences".(vi) 46 through 48, which refers to "construction trades", "mechanic and repair technologies/technicians", and "precision production".(vii) 51, which refers to "health professions and related programs".Amended by 2024, Act 120,s 82, eff. 10/1/2024.Amended by 2023, Act 103,s 108, eff. 10/1/2023.Amended by 2022, Act 144,s 88, eff. 10/1/2022.Amended by 2021, Act 48,s 77, eff. 7/13/2021.Amended by 2020, Act 165,s 64, eff. 10/1/2020.Amended by 2019, Act 58,s 59, eff. 10/1/2019.Added by 2018, Act 265,s 60, eff. 10/1/2018.
