Section 13:5554 - Group insurance; kinds; amounts; subrogation
A. Sheriffs and deputy sheriffs shall be insured under a policy, or policies, of group life, health, accident, accidental death and dismemberment, hospital, surgical or medical expense insurance in such an amount, or amounts, as may be contracted for by the officers of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association. Dependents of sheriffs and deputy sheriffs may be insured under the group policies which provide hospital, surgical or medical expense insurance contracted for by the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association.
B. Sheriffs and deputy sheriffs may be insured under a policy or policies of group liability insurance in such an amount or amounts, and for such designated hazards, as may be contracted for by the officers of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association.
C.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection A of this Section, the officers of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association may adopt a self-insurance plan to provide group coverage for health, medical, and surgical expenses of participating sheriffs and deputy sheriffs. Any self-insurance plan so adopted by the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association shall not be subject to any of the provisions of Subpart P of Part I of Chapter 2 of Title 22 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection A of this Section, the sheriff and deputy sheriffs of each parish of the state may elect group life, health, accident, accidental death and dismemberment, hospital, surgical, or medical expense insurance either under the policy or policies or self-insurance plan contracted for by the officers of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association or under a group policy or policies or self-insurance plan contracted for by the sheriff or the parish. Any group policy contracted for by a sheriff under the authority of the Subsection shall be with an insurer authorized to do business in this state and may be for coverage similar to that provided under the policy or policies or self-insurance plan contracted for by the officers of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association.
(3) Dependents of sheriffs and deputy sheriffs in the parishes of the state may be insured under group policies or self-insurance plans providing hospital, surgical, or medical expense coverage contracted for by the officers of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association or by the sheriff or the parish.
D. Any policy or self-insurance plan providing group hospital, surgical, medical expense, or life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall contain a provision authorizing any covered employee retiring under his sheriff's department retirement plan to elect to continue such coverage upon retirement. The premium cost of such coverage may be paid in full or in part from the sheriff's general funds or by the retired employee. A uniform policy with respect to the payment of such premiums shall be formulated and applied by each sheriff.
E. Any policy or self-insurance plan providing group hospital, surgical, medical expense, or life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall contain a provision authorizing any retired employee covered under a prior policy or plan issued to any sheriff to elect to continue coverage under the new plan or policy on the same terms, conditions, and limits for which coverage was afforded under the prior plan or policy.
F. Sheriffs, their insurers, and any self-insurance plan authorized pursuant to this Section, shall be subrogated to all rights and actions which any deputy or his dependents have or may have for all sums which such sheriffs, insurers, or self-insurance plans have paid or may pay as salary or compensation; as health, medical, surgical, hospital, dental, accident, or death benefits; and if such interest is asserted by suit or intervention for a reasonable attorney's fee therefor.
G.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full from the sheriff's general fund for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired with at least fifteen years of service who are at least fifty-five years of age or retired with at least thirty years of service at any age. The provisions of this Subsection shall be applicable only to the sheriffs' offices of the parishes of Bossier, St. Bernard, St. Martin, Acadia, Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Caddo, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Cameron, Catahoula, Concordia, East Feliciana, Grant, Iberville, Jackson, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Lincoln, Livingston, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Red River, St. James, Tangipahoa, Union, Vermilion, Vernon, Washington, West Baton Rouge, West Carroll, and West Feliciana and the sheriff of the Civil District Court of the parish of Orleans, for their respective retirees. The provisions of this Subsection shall also apply to the employees of the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund and the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association, which fund and association shall pay the premium costs for their employees.
(2) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, as applicable to the sheriff's office of St. Martin Parish, shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs hired before July 1, 2009. The provisions of Paragraph (V)(1) of this Section shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs hired on or after July 1, 2009, and before July 1, 2022. The provisions of Paragraph (V)(2) of this Section shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs hired or rehired on or after July 1, 2022.
(3) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, in the parish of West Baton Rouge, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full from the sheriff's general fund for any sheriff and full-time deputy sheriff who has retired from the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and who is entitled to receive monthly benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund and who has either of the following:
(a) At least twelve years of full-time creditable service with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and who was hired before June 30, 2008, and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(b) At least thirty years or more of service credit with the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, regardless of age.
(c) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection shall apply for any sheriff, deputy sheriff, and all persons hired by the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office on or after July 1, 2008.
(4) Notwithstanding the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, the sheriff of Acadia Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who is eligible to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, as follows:
(a) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff has attained the age of fifty-five years with twenty or more years of full-time continuous service with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office.
(b) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff has completed thirty years or more of full-time creditable service with twenty years of continuous service with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(c) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, as applicable to the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office, shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired on or before December 31, 2014. The provisions of Subparagraphs (a) and (b) of this Paragraph shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire on or after January 1, 2015; however, any sheriff or deputy sheriff who has met the eligibility requirements pursuant to Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, on or before June 30, 2014, may retire at any time with benefits as provided in Paragraph (1) of this Subsection.
(d) Notwithstanding the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection and Subparagraphs (a) through (c) of this Paragraph, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group insurance, hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted pursuant to the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full from the sheriff's general fund for any sheriff, full-time deputy sheriff, or any other employee who has retired from the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office, who is eligible to receive benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund, and who meets all of the following qualifications:
(i) Has at least thirty years of creditable service with a statewide retirement system with the final twelve years of continuous full-time creditable service with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office.
(ii) Is at least fifty-five years of age.
(e) Insurance benefits provided for in Subparagraph (d) of this Paragraph shall be based on the total amount of creditable service with a statewide retirement system including time earned in the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund and the recipient's coverage during the last active year of service with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office. Coverage of these insurance benefits shall be extended to the recipient's eligible dependents if the recipient requests such coverage.
(f) Recipients of insurance pursuant to Subparagraph (d) of this Paragraph are subject to all cost increases or changes to the active insurance plan.
(g) The provisions of Subparagraph (d) of this Paragraph shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire on or after July 1, 2022.
(5) In addition to the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, in the parish of Calcasieu, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full from the sheriff's general fund for any sheriff and full-time deputy sheriff who has retired from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office and who is entitled to receive monthly benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund and who has at least eight of the required fifteen or thirty years of full-time creditable service with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.
(6)
(a) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, as applicable to the sheriff's office of Concordia Parish, shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire or are eligible to retire prior to September 1, 2017, who meet the eligibility requirements pursuant to Paragraph (1) of this Subsection.
(b) In the parish of Concordia, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance contracted under the provisions of this Section and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full by the sheriff's general fund to all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire or are eligible to retire on or after September 1, 2017, and who have either of the following:
(i) Fifteen years of continuous and creditable service with the sheriff's office of Concordia Parish on or before September 1, 2017, and subsequently retired or are eligible for retirement from the sheriff's office of Concordia Parish after having reached the age of fifty-five.
(ii) Thirty or more years of continuous and creditable service with the sheriff's office of Concordia Parish who are eligible to retire after September 1, 2017, regardless of age.
(7)
(a) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, as applicable to the sheriff's office of Caddo Parish, shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who are hired prior to July 1, 2018, who meet the eligibility requirements and have the requisite creditable service pursuant to Paragraph (1) of this Subsection.
(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Caddo Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section for any sheriff and full-time deputy sheriff who was hired on or after July 1, 2018, and retired from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, who is entitled to receive monthly benefits from the Louisiana Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, and who has retired from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office with at least twenty years of creditable service and who is at least fifty-five years of age, or retired with at least thirty years of service at any age.
(8)
(a) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, as applicable to the sheriff's office of East Feliciana Parish, shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who were hired prior to July 1, 2018, who meet the eligibility requirements and have the requisite creditable service pursuant to Paragraph (1) of this Subsection.
(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of East Feliciana Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium cost of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid for any retired sheriff and sheriff deputy who is hired on or after July 1, 2018, as follows:
(i) Fifty percent of the premium cost of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance from any sheriff and sheriff deputy who retires from the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office with fifteen years of creditable service, is at least fifty-five years of age, and is entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund.
(ii) Seventy-five percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff and sheriff deputy who retires from the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office with twenty years of creditable service, is at least fifty-five years of age, and is entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund.
(iii) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff and sheriff deputy who retires from East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office with twenty-five years of service, is at least fifty-five years of age, and is entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund.
(iv) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff and sheriff deputy who retires from East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office with thirty years of creditable service and is entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund.
(9)
(a) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, as applicable to the sheriff's office of Vernon Parish, shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who were hired prior to July 1, 2019, who meet the eligibility requirements and have the requisite creditable service pursuant to Paragraph (1) of this Subsection.
(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Vernon Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium cost of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section for any retired sheriff and sheriff deputy who is hired on or after July 1, 2019, as follows:
(i) Fifty percent of the premium cost of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff and sheriff deputy who retires from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office with fifteen years of creditable service, is at least sixty-two years of age, is entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, and who has at least fifteen years of full time continuous service with the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.
(ii) Seventy-five percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff and sheriff deputy who retires from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office with twenty years of creditable service, is at least sixty years of age, is entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, and who has at least fifteen years of full time continuous service with the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.
(iii) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff and sheriff deputy who retires from Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office with twenty-five years of creditable service, is at least sixty years of age, is entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, and who has at least fifteen years of full time continuous service with the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.
(iv) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff and sheriff deputy who retires from Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office with thirty years of creditable service, is at least fifty-five years of age, is entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, and who has at least fifteen years of full time continuous service with the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.
(10)
(a) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, as applicable to the sheriff's office of Pointe Coupee Parish, shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who were hired prior to July 1, 2019, who meet the eligibility requirements, and have the requisite creditable service pursuant to Paragraph (1) of this Subsection.
(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, in the parish of Pointe Coupee, for any sheriff or deputy sheriff hired on and after July 1, 2019, the sheriff of Pointe Coupee Parish shall pay in full from the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section for any sheriff or full-time deputy sheriff who retires directly from active service with the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office and who meets the criteria in all of the following Items:
(i) Is entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund.
(ii) Has at least fifteen years of full-time service with the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office.
(iii) Is at least fifty-five years of age.
H.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid by the sheriff of Assumption Parish from the sheriff's general fund for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire on or after July 1, 2001, and before July 1, 2011, from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office with at least twenty years of service and who are at least fifty-five years of age.
(2) With regard to all retired sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who were covered by insurance under the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection as those provisions existed prior to June 1, 2001, the sheriff of Assumption Parish shall continue to pay one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for the retired sheriffs and deputy sheriffs. With regard to all dependents of retired sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who were covered by insurance under the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection as those provisions existed prior to June 1, 2001, the sheriff of Assumption Parish shall pay the same percentage of the premiums, for the same type and level of insurance coverage, as that sheriff pays for dependents of employees of that sheriff.
(3) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid by the sheriff of Assumption Parish from the sheriff's general fund for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire on or after July 1, 2011, from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office with at least twenty years of service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office and who are at least fifty-five years of age.
(4) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section and Paragraph (3) of this Subsection, the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office shall pay the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and deputy sheriff who retires from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office on or after July 1, 2016, as follows:
(a) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group health, hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office with at least thirty years of full-time creditable service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office, and who are at least fifty-five years of age on the date of formal retirement from active service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office.
(b) Seventy-five percent of the premium costs of group health, hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office with at least twenty-five years of full-time creditable service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office, and who are at least fifty-five years of age on the date of formal retirement from active service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office.
(c) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group health, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office with at least twenty years of full-time creditable service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office, and who are at least fifty-five years of age on the date of formal retirement from active service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office.
I.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, in the parish of Ouachita, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full from the sheriff's general fund for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired prior to July 1, 2002, with at least fifteen years of service who are at least fifty-five years of age.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, in the parish of Ouachita, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full from the sheriff's general fund for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired on or after July 1, 2002, with at least twenty years of service with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Department.
J. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full by the sheriff of Winn Parish, from the sheriff's general fund, for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire from the Winn Parish Sheriff's Office, who are entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund, and who meet any of the following conditions:
(1) Twelve years of service and are at least sixty-two years of age.
(2) Twenty years of service and are at least sixty years of age.
(3) Thirty years of service and are at least fifty-five years of age.
K. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, in the parish of Claiborne, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group dental, hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid from the sheriff's general fund for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who has retired from the Claiborne Parish sheriff's office who meets the criteria in either of the following Paragraphs:
(1) Is eligible to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, and
(a) Has at least fifteen years of service and is at least fifty-five years of age; or
(b) Has thirty years of service, regardless of age.
(2) Is entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund and the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System pursuant to the provisions of R.S. 11:141 et seq., has at least twenty years of combined service, and is at least fifty-five years of age.
L. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, in the parish of Terrebonne, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, dental, and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid from the sheriff's general fund for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who has retired from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office and who is eligible to receive benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund, and who has either of the following:
(1) At least twenty years of total service with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office, and is at least fifty-five years of age, and meets all of the requirements of the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund for retirement with twenty years or more of service.
(2) At least thirty years of continuous service with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office regardless of age.
M. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full by the sheriff of LaSalle Parish, from the sheriff's general fund, for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired from the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Office who are entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund and who have either of the following:
(1) At least twenty years of total service with the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Office, and are at least fifty-five years of age; or
(2) At least thirty years of continuous service with the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Office regardless of age.
N.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, effective July 1, 2003, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full by the sheriff of Plaquemines Parish from the sheriff's general fund for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retired from the sheriff's office of that parish with at least twelve years of service with that sheriff's office and who have either (1) at least fifteen years of service and being at least fifty-five years of age or (2) at least thirty years of service at any age. The provisions of this Paragraph shall apply to all persons hired by the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office prior to July 1, 2017.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office shall pay the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance out of the sheriff's general fund for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who was hired on or after July 1, 2017, and retired from the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(a) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires from the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office with fifteen years of creditable service with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(b) Seventy-five percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires from the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office with twenty years of creditable service with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(c) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires from the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office with twenty-five years of creditable service with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(d) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires from the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office with at least thirty years of creditable service with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office regardless of age.
O. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of St. Charles Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium cost of group insurance for any sheriff or full-time deputy sheriff who has retired from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office and who is entitled to receive monthly benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund as follows:
(1) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who was hired on or before July 1, 2010, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for pursuant to the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with either of the following:
(a) At least fifteen years of full-time creditable service with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(b) At least thirty years of full-time creditable service with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(2) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who was hired after July 1, 2010, the sheriff of St. Charles Parish shall pay the premium cost of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted pursuant to the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired as follows:
(a) One hundred percent if retired with at least thirty years of full-time creditable service with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(b) Seventy-five percent if retired with at least twenty-five years of full-time creditable service with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(c) Fifty percent if retired with at least twenty years of full-time creditable service with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
P. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of St. Landry Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium cost of group insurance for any sheriff or full-time deputy sheriff who has retired from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office and who is entitled to receive monthly benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund as follows:
(1) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who was hired on or before July 1, 2019, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for pursuant to the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with either of the following:
(a) At least twelve years of full-time service with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(b) At least thirty years of full-time service with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(2) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who is hired after July 1, 2019, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for pursuant to the provision of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with either of the following:
(a) At least fifteen years of continuous full-time service with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least sixty-five years of age.
(b) At least thirty years of continuous full-time service with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
Q. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Lafourche Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who retired from the Lafourche Parish sheriff's office as follows:
(1) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with thirty years or more of creditable service and at least twenty years of such service was with the sheriff's office of Lafourche Parish.
(2) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with at least twenty years of service with the sheriff's office of Lafourche Parish and is at least fifty-five years of age.
R. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Richland Parish shall pay from the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any sheriff or full-time deputy sheriff who is entitled to receive monthly benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund and who retires from the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who is eligible to retire and meets the requirements of Subparagraph (a) or (b) of this Paragraph on or before August 31, 2013, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retires with either of the following:
(a) At least fifteen years of full-time service with the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(b) At least thirty years of full-time service with the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(2) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who first becomes eligible to retire and subsequently retires after August 31, 2013, and before July 1, 2022, fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retires with at least twenty-five years of creditable service with the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office and has attained the age of fifty-five.
(3) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who first becomes eligible to retire and subsequently retires after August 31, 2013, and before July 1, 2022, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retires with thirty years or more of creditable service with the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(4) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who does not meet the requirements of Subparagraph (1)(a) or (b) of this Subsection and retires on or after July 1, 2022, from the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office and is eligible to receive benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund and meets the requirements of Subparagraph (a), (b), or (c) of this Paragraph, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retires with any of the following qualifications:
(a) At least fifteen years of creditable service and is at least sixty years of age and has served twelve years of creditable service with the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office.
(b) At least twenty years of creditable service and is at least fifty-five years of age and has served twelve years of creditable service with the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office.
(c) At least thirty years of creditable service and has served twenty years of creditable service with the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
S.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid from the sheriff's general fund for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who has retired from the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office and who is eligible to receive benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund, and who meets either one of the following conditions:
(a) Has attained the age of fifty-five years with twenty-four or more years of full-time service with the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office.
(b) Has completed thirty years of full-time continuous service with the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires on or after December 31, 2012, and who is eligible to receive benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and life insurance shall be paid from the sheriff's general fund as follows:
(a) One hundred percent if the sheriff or deputy sheriff has completed thirty years of full-time creditable service and has completed a majority of his creditable service time with the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age. A sheriff or deputy sheriff's creditable days of full-time service shall be determined by the Louisiana Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund.
(b) Seventy-five percent if the sheriff or deputy sheriff has attained the age of fifty-five years with at least twenty-seven years of full-time creditable service and has completed a majority of his creditable service time with the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office. A sheriff or deputy sheriff's creditable days of full-time service shall be determined by the Louisiana Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund.
(c) Fifty percent if the sheriff or deputy sheriff has attained the age of fifty-five years with at least twenty-three years of full-time creditable service and has completed a majority of his creditable service time with the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office. A sheriff or deputy sheriff's creditable days of full-time service shall be determined by the Louisiana Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund.
T. Effective August 15, 2006, in order for any sheriff, deputy sheriff, or other employee to be eligible to qualify for payment by the sheriff, Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, or the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association of premium costs of health benefits upon retirement, each shall have completed the years of service required and have retired directly from either the sheriff's office, the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, or the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association.
U. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Bienville Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who retired from the Bienville Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with thirty years or more of creditable service with the Louisiana Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund.
(2) Seventy-five percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with twenty-five years of creditable service with the Louisiana Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund.
(3) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with twenty years of creditable service with the Louisiana Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund.
(4) The provisions of Paragraphs (1) through (3) and this Paragraph of this Subsection shall only apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who are covered by the Louisiana Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund after January 1, 2009, and who subsequently retire from the Bienville Parish Sheriff's Office.
V.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of St. Martin Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office with twenty years of creditable service with the Louisiana Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund. The provisions of this Subsection shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs hired on or after July 1, 2009, and before July 1, 2022.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of St. Martin Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who retired from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(a) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff and deputy sheriff retired in good standing with thirty continuous years or more of creditable full-time service with the sheriff's office of St. Martin Parish and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(b) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff and deputy sheriff retired in good standing with twenty continuous years of creditable full-time service with the sheriff's office of St. Martin Parish and is at least sixty-five years of age.
(c) The provisions of this Paragraph shall apply only to persons hired or rehired by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office on or after July 1, 2022, and who subsequently retire from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office.
W. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Madison Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who retires from the Madison Parish Sheriff's Department as follows:
(1) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retired before July 1, 2009, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with either of the following:
(a) At least fifteen years of service and was at least fifty-five years of age.
(b) At least thirty years or more of service at any age.
(2) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires on and after July 1, 2009, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance, and life insurance expenses contracted for under the provisions of this Section for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who has at least fifteen years of continuous service with the Madison Parish Sheriff's Department as of June 30, 2009.
(3) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires on and after July 1, 2009, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance, and life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retires with thirty years or more of continuous service with the Madison Parish Sheriff's Department.
(4) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires on and after July 1, 2017, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance, and life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retires with twenty-four years or more of continuous service with the Madison Parish Sheriff's Department and is at least fifty-five years of age.
X. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of DeSoto Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who retired from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with thirty years or more of creditable service with the sheriff's office of DeSoto Parish.
(2) Seventy-five percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with twenty-five years of creditable service with the sheriff's office of DeSoto Parish.
(3) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with twenty years of creditable service with the sheriff's office of DeSoto Parish.
(4) The provisions of Paragraphs (1) through (3) and this Paragraph of this Subsection shall apply only to persons hired by the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office after January 1, 2009, and who subsequently retire from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office.
(5) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to all persons hired before January 1, 2009.
Y. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Webster Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who retired from the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with twenty-five years or more of creditable service with the sheriff's office of Webster Parish.
(2) Seventy-five percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with twenty years of creditable service with the sheriff's office of Webster Parish.
(3) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with fifteen years of creditable service with the sheriff's office of Webster Parish.
(4) The provisions of this Subsection shall apply only to persons hired by the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office on or after January 1, 2010, and who subsequently retire from the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office.
(5) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to all persons hired by the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office before January 1, 2010.
Z. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office shall pay the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired employee who retired from the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to any sheriff or employee who was hired prior to September 1, 2010.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office shall pay the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired employee who was hired on or after September 1, 2010 and before July 1, 2014, and who retired from the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(a) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance and life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or employee retired with thirty years or more of service with the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund, regardless of age.
(b) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or employee retired with twenty years of service with the Louisiana Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(3) Any sheriff or employee of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office who was hired on or after July 1, 2014, and who retires with the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office and served a minimum of ten consecutive years of their total service requirement with the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office shall be eligible for payment of group insurance benefits, as follows:
(a) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance and life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or employee retired with thirty years or more of service with the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund and has attained the age of fifty-five.
(b) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or employee retired with twenty years of service with the Louisiana Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund and has attained sixty years of age.
AA. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of St. John the Baptist Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium cost of group insurance for any sheriff or full-time deputy sheriff who has retired from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office and who is entitled to receive monthly benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund as follows:
(1) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who was hired on or before July 1, 2010, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for pursuant to the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with either of the following:
(a) At least fifteen years of full-time creditable service with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(b) At least thirty years of full-time creditable service with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(2) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff who was hired after July 1, 2010, the sheriff of St. John the Baptist Parish shall pay the premium cost of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted pursuant to the provisions of this Section, if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired as follows:
(a) One hundred percent if retired with at least thirty years of full-time creditable service with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(b) Seventy-five percent if retired with at least twenty-five years of full-time creditable service with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(c) Fifty percent if retired with at least twenty years of full-time creditable service with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
BB. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Sabine Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, dental, and life insurance for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who has retired from the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office and who has attained one of the following:
(1) At least sixteen years of service and is at least sixty-five years of age.
(2) At least twenty years of service and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(3) At least thirty years of continuous service regardless of age.
CC. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office shall pay the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired employee hired on or after September 1, 2013, who retired from the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, vision and dental insurance, and life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or employee retired with thirty years or more of service with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(2) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, vision and dental insurance, and life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or employee retired with twenty years of service with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(3) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to all persons hired by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office prior to September 1, 2013.
DD. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office shall pay the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired employee hired on or after July 1, 2014, who retires with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or employee retired from active duty in good standing with thirty years or more of creditable full-time service with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age.
(2) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or employee retired from active duty in good standing with twenty years of creditable full-time service with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least sixty-five years of age.
(3) For purposes of this Subsection, anyone retiring from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office must meet all applicable requirements of this Subsection on their final date of employment.
(4) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to all persons hired by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office prior to July 1, 2014.
EE. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office shall pay the premium costs of group and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance out of the sheriff's general fund for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who was hired on or after July 1, 2015, and retired from the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group insurance for health, vision, and dental for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires from the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office with fifteen years of full-time continuous service with the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(2) Seventy percent of the premium costs of group insurance for health, vision, and dental for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires from the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office with twenty years of full-time continuous service with the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age.
(3) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group insurance for health, vision, and dental for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires from the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office with twenty-five years of creditable service with the Louisiana Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund and is a least fifty-five years of age.
(4) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group insurance for health, vision, and dental for any sheriff or deputy sheriff who retires from the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office with thirty years of creditable service with the Louisiana Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund regardless of age.
(5) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to all persons hired by the Allen Parish Sheriff's Office prior to July 1, 2015.
FF. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Livingston Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance or the premium costs, administrative costs, or benefit payments of any self-insured plan for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who retires from the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff hired before July 1, 2017, the provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply.
(2) For any sheriff or deputy sheriff hired on and after July 1, 2017, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full from the sheriff's general fund for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who are at least fifty-five years of age and who retire with at least twenty years of continuous and creditable service with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, or who are any age and who retire with at least thirty years of continuous and creditable service with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office.
GG.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full by the sheriff of Rapides Parish, from the sheriff's general fund, for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired from the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office hired on or after July 1, 2017, who are entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund, have at least fifteen years of service with the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office, and are at least fifty-five years of age.
(2) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to all persons hired by the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office prior to July 1, 2017.
HH. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Natchitoches Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who retired from the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office and meets the regular retirement eligibility requirements of the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, as follows:
(1) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with twenty-five years or more of creditable service with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office.
(2) Seventy-five percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with twenty years of creditable service with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office.
(3) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with fifteen years of creditable service with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office.
(4) The provisions of this Subsection shall apply only to persons hired by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office on or after August 1, 2017, and who subsequently retire from the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office.
(5) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to all persons hired by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office before August 1, 2017.
II.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full by the sheriff of Cameron Parish, from the sheriff's general fund, for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired from the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office hired on or after July 1, 2018, who are entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, have at least fifteen years of service with the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office, and are at least fifty-five years of age.
(2) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to all persons hired by the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office prior to July 1, 2018.
JJ.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full by the sheriff of Jefferson Davis Parish, from the sheriff's general fund, for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired from the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office who were hired on or after July 1, 2018, who are entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund, have at least fifteen years of service with the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office, and are at least fifty-five years of age.
(2) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to all persons hired by the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office prior to July 1, 2018.
KK. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Vermilion Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who retires from the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, dental, and medical expense and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance if the sheriff or deputy sheriff has at least fifteen years of full-time continuous and creditable service with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office and is at least fifty-five years of age and is retiring from active service with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office. A sheriff or deputy sheriff's creditable days of full-time service shall be determined by the Louisiana Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund.
(2) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, dental, and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance if the sheriff or deputy sheriff has at least thirty years of full-time continuous and creditable service with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office, regardless of age. A sheriff or deputy sheriff's creditable days of full-time service shall be determined by the Louisiana Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund.
(3) The provisions of this Subsection shall apply only to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs hired by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office on or after July 1, 2018.
(4) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs hired by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office prior to July 1, 2018.
LL. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, the sheriff of Catahoula Parish shall pay out of the sheriff's general fund the premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and any retired deputy sheriff who retired from the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office as follows:
(1) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with thirty years or more of creditable service with the sheriff's office of Catahoula Parish.
(2) Seventy-five percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with twenty-five years of creditable service with the sheriff's office of Catahoula Parish.
(3) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section if the sheriff or deputy sheriff retired with twenty years of creditable service with the sheriff's office of Catahoula Parish.
(4) The provisions of this Subsection shall apply only to persons hired by the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office on or after July 1, 2020, and who subsequently retire from the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office.
MM.
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section, one hundred percent of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense insurance and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of this Section shall be paid in full from the sheriff's general fund for any sheriff and full-time deputy sheriff who has retired from the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office and who is eligible to receive benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund, has attained the age of fifty-five years with twenty or more years of full-time creditable service with the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, and is in good standing with the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office at the time of retirement.
(2)
(a) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection shall apply to any sheriff, deputy sheriff, and any other person hired by the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office on or after July 1, 2022.
(b) The provisions of Paragraph (G)(1) of this Section shall apply to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs hired by the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office prior to July 1, 2022.
