§ 1116. Hidden treasures

Hidden treasures belong to the owner of the land on which they are found.

Nevertheless, when the discovery is made by chance on property belonging to another, or to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or of the United States, one-half thereof shall be allowed to the finder.
