Section 22-4511 - Termination of appointment or reimbursement after appointment of counsel, when; counsel after proceedings begun; substitutions(a) If at any time after appointment of counsel the court having jurisdiction of the case finds that the defendant is financially able to obtain counsel or to make partial payment for representation, the court may terminate the appointment of counsel or authorize payment as provided in K.S.A. 22-4504 or 22-4510, and amendments thereto, as the interests of justice may dictate.(b) If at any stage of the proceedings, including appeal, the court having jurisdiction of the case finds that the defendant is financially unable to pay counsel whom the defendant has retained, the court may appoint counsel as provided in K.S.A. 22-4503, 22-4505 or 22-4506, and amendments thereto, and authorize payment as provided in K.S.A. 22-4507, and amendments thereto, as the interests of justice may dictate.(c) The court having jurisdiction of the case may, in the interests of justice, substitute one appointed counsel for another at any stage of the proceeding.L. 1969, ch. 291, § 11; L. 1982, ch. 142, § 21; July 1.
