Section 8-23-9-16 - Acceptance of completed work; relief of contractor's liability(a) After complete inspection has been made and it is determined that the work has been done according to plans and specifications, the commissioner of the department may approve and accept completed work in sections of not less than one (1) mile unless otherwise permitted by the contract documents.(b) When a section of the work has been completed and accepted, the contractor is as fully relieved of all liability for the maintenance, reconstruction, or restoration of the section of the work completed and accepted, or a part of the work, as the contractor would be if the entire contract were finally completed and accepted.(c) If the contract consists of two (2) or more projects as defined by the department, the commissioner may approve and accept the work of a completed project, and the contractor is relieved of all liability for maintenance, reconstruction, or restoration of the project, or a part of the project, as the contractor would be if the entire contract were finally completed and accepted.As added by P.L. 18-1990, SEC.218.
