The commission may declare any person who has been convicted of an offense under IC 35-48 ineligible to participate in any boxing, sparring, or unarmed combat match or exhibition, or any other activity or event regulated by the commission, notwithstanding that the person may hold a valid license issued by the commission. The period of ineligibility shall be for not less than six (6) months nor more than three (3) years, as determined by the commission. If a convicted person is declared ineligible, the commission shall suspend the person and declare the person ineligible to participate in any boxing, sparring, or unarmed combat match or exhibition, or any other activity or event regulated by the commission, as soon as it discovers the conviction, but the period of ineligibility shall commence from the actual date of the conviction. During the period of ineligibility, the suspended person may reapply to the commission for a license.
