Section 36-8-11-19 - No duplicate tax levies

The department of local government finance, when approving a rate and levy fixed by the board, shall verify that a duplication of tax levies does not exist between a fire protection district and a municipality or township within the boundaries of the district, so that taxpayers do not bear two (2) levies for the same service, except as provided by section 20 of this chapter.
