Section 11-8-9-1 - Appointment of a correctional police officer; training

The commissioner may appoint an individual to serve as a correctional police officer. An individual appointed to serve as a correctional police officer may not exercise police powers until the individual successfully completes a program of instruction certified by the department and the law enforcement training board.
