Section 22-30.5-518 - Institute charter school food allergy and anaphylaxis management policy required
(1) On or before July 1, 2010, the state charter school institute shall adopt and implement a policy for the management of food allergies and anaphylaxis among students enrolled in institute charter schools. The policy shall include, at a minimum, measures that satisfy the rules promulgated by the state board pursuant to section 22-2-135.
(2)
(a) The policy adopted by the state charter school institute pursuant to subsection (1) of this section shall ensure that, prior to the beginning of each school year, each institute charter school provide notice to a parent or legal guardian of each student enrolled in the institute charter school of the policy. The notice shall include the standard form developed by the department of public health and environment pursuant to section 25-1.5-109, C.R.S., to allow the parent or legal guardian of a student with a known food allergy to provide to the institute charter school's administration the information that is described in section 22-2-135(3)(b).
(b) The notice required by paragraph (a) of this subsection (2) shall include language that encourages parents and legal guardians of students for whom medication has been prescribed for treatment of a food allergy or anaphylaxis to give to the school nurse or other administrator of the student's school a supply of the medication.
