Section 1-13-710 - Voting twice - penalty(1)(a) No voter shall, with the intent of voting more than once in an election: (I) Cast more than one ballot;(II) Offer to cast a ballot knowing that a ballot the voter previously returned was received; or(III) During a federal election, vote in this state and another state.(b) A voter who violates this subsection (1) upon conviction shall be punished as provided in section 1-13-111.(2) Nothing in this section prohibits a voter from voting in a special district election as a property owner in accordance with article 13.5 of this title or part 8 of article 1 of title 32, C.R.S.Amended by 2021 Ch. 462, § 32, eff. 3/1/2022.Amended by 2021 Ch. 282, § 68, eff. 6/21/2021.Amended by 2016 Ch. 173, § 71, eff. 5/18/2016.Amended by 2013 Ch. 185, § 120, eff. 5/10/2013.L. 80: Entire article R&RE, p. 434, § 1, effective 1/1/1981. (2) Amendments to subsection (1) by SB 21-250 and SB 21-271 were harmonized, effective March 1, 2022.
(3) Section 85 of chapter 282 (SB 21-250), Session Laws of Colorado 2021, provides that the act changing this section applies to elections conducted on or after June 21, 2021.
(4) Section 803(2) of chapter 462 (SB 21-271), Session Laws of Colorado 2021, provides that the act changing this section applies to offenses committed on or after March 1, 2022.
