Section 8VAC20-800-520 - CribsA. Cribs shall be provided for children from birth through 12 months of age and for children over 12 months of age who are not developmentally ready to sleep on a cot, rest mat, or bed.B. Cribs shall not be used as a play space for infants.C. Cribs shall: 1. Meet the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission standards at the time they were manufactured;2. Not have been recalled;3. Have no more than six centimeters or 2-3/8 inches of space between slats;4. Have mattresses that fit snugly next to the crib so that no more than two fingers can be inserted between the mattress and the crib;5. Not have end panel cutouts of a size to cause head entrapment; andD. Double-deck cribs shall not be used.E. Crib bumper pads shall not be used.F. Crib sides shall always be up and the fastenings secured when a child is in the crib, except when the caregiver is giving the child immediate attention.8 Va. Admin. Code § 20-800-520
