Section 450B.475 - Supplying of controlled substances; handling, use and maintenance of controlled substances and dangerous drugs; procedures to address discrepancies1. Controlled substances used by a service must be supplied as follows: (a) The medical director of the service shall designate one or more commercial or hospital pharmacies for the issuance and resupply of controlled substances.(b) The initial issue of controlled substances must be made by a prescription signed by the medical director.(c) The resupply of controlled substances must be made by a prescription signed by the ordering physician, receiving physician or medical director.(d) If a container of a controlled substance becomes damaged or contaminated The medical director shall verify the damage or contamination and sign a prescription for the replacement of the controlled substance;2. The handling and use of any controlled substance or dangerous drug by an emergency medical service must comply with the provisions of chapters 453 and 454 of NRS.3. Each controlled substance and dangerous drug must be maintained in unit dose containers unless directed otherwise by the medical director of the service.4. Each service which is issued a permit by the Division must have a procedure for controlled substances and dangerous drugs to address any discrepancies in compliance with the regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy.Nev.
