Section 19 CSR 15-4.110 - Area Agency on Aging Advisory CouncilPURPOSE: This amendment updates legal authority and terminology.
PURPOSE: This rule requires each area agency on aging to have an advisory council and establishes the requirements it shall meet.
(1) Each area agency on aging shall have an advisory council which shall develop and make public written bylaws which specify the role and functions of the advisory council, number of members, procedure for selection of members, term of membership, and the frequency of meetings.(2) The advisory council shall meet at least quarterly.(3) The composition of the councils shall be more than fifty percent (50%) older adults, including older adults with the greatest economic or social need, older minority adults, service recipients and also shall include representatives of older adults, local elected officials, and the general public.(4) The advisory council shall advise the area agency on aging on developing and administering the area plan, conducting public hearings, representing the interests of older adults, and reviewing and commenting on community policies, programs, and actions affecting older adults.(5) The area agency on aging shall provide staff and assistance to the advisory council.
