Section 09.10.02.49 - Exactas
A. The exacta is a contract by the purchaser of a ticket combining two horses in a single race, selecting the two horses that will subsequently finish first and second in that race. Payment of the ticket shall be made only to the purchaser who has selected the same order of finish as officially posted.
B. The exacta is not a "parlay" and has no connection with or relation to the win, place and show betting and shall be calculated as an entirely separate pool.
C. In the event of an entry finishing first and second, the net exacta pool shall be distributed to holders of tickets combining the entry with the horse finishing third.
D. If a horse is scratched out of an exacta race, all exacta tickets combining the scratched horse with any other horse in that race shall be refunded and the money refunded shall be deducted from the gross pool.
E. If no ticket is sold selecting the winner and the second horse to finish one-two, in that order, the net pool shall be distributed as a place pool to the holders of tickets selecting the winner to finish first and the holders of tickets selecting the second horse to finish second.
F. If no ticket is sold that would require distribution of an exacta pool to a winner as above defined, the association shall make a complete and full refund of the exacta pool.
G. If two horses finish in a dead heat to win, the net pool shall be distributed as a place pool to the holders of tickets on the two winning combinations. For example: If 4 and 6 finish in a dead heat to win, holders of tickets on 6 and 4 as well as holders of tickets 4 and 6 will share in the net pool.
H. If two horses finish in a dead heat to place, the net pool shall be distributed as a place pool to the holders of tickets on the two winning combinations. For example: If 3 is the winner and 5 and 7 finish in a dead heat to place, holders of tickets combining 3 and 5, in that exact order, and holders of tickets combining 3 and 7, in that exact order, will share in the pool.
I. If there is a dead heat to win or a dead heat to place and no ticket has been sold on one of the winning combinations, the net pool shall be distributed to the holders of tickets on the other combination.
J. If there is a dead heat to place and no ticket has been sold combining the winner with either one of the two horses finishing in the dead heat, the holders of tickets selecting the winner to finish first and the holders of tickets selecting either one of the dead heat horses to finish second shall share in the net pool. The net pool shall be distributed as a place pool the winner shall receive one-half and the horses in the dead heat shall divide the remaining half proportionately between them.
