Rule 263-7.7 - Initial board review

(1) The board shall review all petitions filed pursuant to this chapter to determine compliance with the requirements of Iowa Code chapter 368 and this chapter. If a petition is incomplete or otherwise not in compliance with the requirements of Iowa Code chapter 368 or this chapter, the board may request further information from a landowner or city or may dismiss the petition.

(2) If the annexation requested in the petition is barred pursuant to Iowa Code section 368.17, the board shall deny the petition, stating in its order the reason(s) for the denial.
