(a) Transportation expenses for permanent relocation shall be provided when: The individual has accepted suitable employment as a result of the completion of the Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).
Permanent relocation is more cost effective and feasible than transportation to and from the individual's current residence and place of employment.
The requirements in section 7161(b) have been met.
(b) Transportation expenses for permanent relocation shall include only the costs specified in (1) or (2). For self-moves, the costs of renting a truck or trailer plus the amounts specified in section 7162(c). The mileage shall be based upon the most direct route from the client's former residence to the new residence.
For carrier moves, the costs for a licensed carrier that is certified by the State and:
(A) For individuals who own a vehicle and are driving it to the new residence, the amounts specified in section 7162(c). The mileage shall be based upon the most direct route from the client's former residence to the new residence.(B) For individuals who do not own a vehicle or are not driving it to the new residence, the costs of a one-way fare on the least expensive mode of common carrier which is accessible to the client.(c) Prior to the authorization of transportation expenses for permanent relocation the written approval of the Rehabilitation Supervisor shall be obtained. If the estimated costs exceed $500 the written approval of the District Administrator shall also be obtained. The Rehabilitation Supervisor's and District Administrator's decision shall be based upon criteria such as verification that the conditions specified in (a) have been met.(d) The rate of reimbursement shall be the usual and customary charges for the service by the carrier or rental agency.(e) Payment shall be made directly to the carrier or rental agency, except for the amounts specified in section 7162(c) which shall be paid to the client.Cal.
