Section 70425 - Burn Center Staff(a) A physician shall have responsibility for the burn service. This physician shall be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Surgery or American Board of Plastic Surgery and should be a member of the American Burn Association.(b) At least two (2) surgeons, experienced in burn therapy and certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Surgery or the American Board of Plastic Surgery shall be responsible for the supervision and performance of burn care.(c) Continuous in-house physician coverage shall be provided.(d) Consultants in the specialties of medicine and surgery shall be available to the center. These specialties shall include, but not be limited to: anesthesia, dermatology, pediatrics, psychiatry, orthopedics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, nephrology, pulmonary medicine and pathology.(e) A registered nurse with at least six months' nursing experience in the treatment of burn patients in a burn center, and with evidence of continuing education in burn care, shall be responsible for the nursing care and nursing management of the burn center.(f) A registered nurse with at least three months' nursing experience in the treatment of burn patients in a burn center shall be on duty on each shift.(g) Sufficient other nursing personnel shall be provided.(h) Psychiatrists, physical therapists, occupational therapists and social workers shall be available on a regular basis to provide needed care and consultation.Cal.
