MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS, § 370 — unauthorized discharge of policewomen. Where civil service commission, after certification and appointment of plaintiffs as civil service policewomen in police department of Chicago, initiated and conducted character investigations of plaintiffs during period of their probationary service and found that plaintiffs had misstated their ages in applications for appointment, and commission's regulations required it to make character investigations in advance of certification, commission's action in bringing about discharge of plaintiffs by directing police commissioner to request authorty for their discharge during period of their probationary service was unauthorized.
