AIG SPECIALTY INSURANCE CO. (F/K/A AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL SPECIALTY LINES INSURANCE CO.), Appellant v. EXXONMOBIL OIL CORPORATION, Appellee

On Appeal from the 44th Judicial District Court Dallas County, Texas Trial Court Cause No. DC-22-08019

ORDER

ROBERT D. BURNS, III CHIEF JUSTICE.

This is an interlocutory appeal from the trial court's order denying appellant's motion to compel arbitration. On August 18, 2023, we ordered the trial court to stay further proceedings during the pendency of the appeal.

Before the Court is appellant's September 1, 2023 unopposed motion for leave to file in the trial court a motion to withdraw counsel and for leave for the trial court to rule on such motion. Appellant seeks to have withdrawn attorneys who represented it in the trial court only.

We GRANT the motion and LIFT THE STAY for the limited purposes of allowing appellant to file in the trial court its motion to withdraw and allowing the trial court to rule on that motion. See Coinbase, Inc. v. Bielski, 1143 S.Ct. 1915, 1920 & n.2 (2023). The stay remains in effect for all other purposes. See id. At 1919-20.
